Arbitrum’s decentralized governance is voting on a proposal to continue funding for the Arbitrum Foundation, seeking allocations across real-world assets (RWAs), ether (ETH), and the ARB governance token. The request includes $16 million in RWAs, 1,700 ETH, and 230 million ARB, with the outcome set to shape the Foundation’s operating budget and ecosystem initiatives.
Proposal Overview
The funding proposal asks ARB token holders to approve a multi-asset budget intended to support the Foundation’s ongoing work in ecosystem development and operations. The request includes:
- $16 million in RWAs (real-world asset exposure)
- 1,700 ETH
- 230 million ARB
For context, ARB has a total supply of 10 billion tokens, making the proposed 230 million ARB allocation equivalent to 2.3% of the total supply. The proposal is framed as a continuation of Foundation funding subject to approval by the Arbitrum DAO.
Why RWAs Appear in DAO Budgets
RWAs refer to tokenized claims on traditional assets, such as short-term government securities or cash equivalents. DAOs increasingly use RWAs for treasury diversification and to seek stable yields that can fund development, grants, and operational expenses. Incorporating RWAs alongside crypto assets can help reduce volatility in long-term budgeting.
About Arbitrum and the Vote
Arbitrum is an Ethereum Layer 2 network that uses optimistic rollups to lower fees and increase transaction throughput. The ARB token grants holders the ability to participate in governance decisions, including treasury allocations and program funding. The current vote will pass if it meets the DAO’s quorum and majority thresholds; if approved, the specified assets would be allocated to the Foundation under DAO oversight. If rejected, proposers could revise and resubmit for further consideration.
