SBI and Solana Foundation Launch Japan’s On-Chain Markets

SBI Holdings and the Solana Foundation have launched a joint initiative, SBI Solana Global, to leverage the Solana blockchain’s speed and efficiency for on-chain services that connect Japan’s domestic market with global liquidity. The collaboration will focus on payment solutions and real-world asset (RWA) applications.

New Initiative: SBI Solana Global

The entities said SBI Solana Global will serve as a bridge between domestic participants and international liquidity pools by building services on Solana’s high-throughput, low-cost network. The effort aims to expand access to blockchain-based financial infrastructure for enterprises and institutions.

Focus Areas: Payments and Real-World Assets

The collaboration will prioritize on-chain payment rails and RWA use cases. RWAs typically refer to tokenized representations of traditional assets—such as financial instruments or other real-economy exposures—issued and managed on blockchain networks to improve settlement efficiency, transparency, and market access.

Why It Matters

By aligning SBI Holdings’ financial services footprint with the Solana Foundation’s blockchain ecosystem, the initiative seeks to accelerate institutional-grade use of public blockchain in Japan and beyond. Connecting domestic market participants to global liquidity via on-chain infrastructure could lower costs, increase transaction speeds, and broaden product availability for payment and asset tokenization workflows.
