Ripple Mint Expands RLUSD Stablecoin Access for Institutions

Ripple has launched an institutional platform for its U.S. dollar–pegged stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), enabling verified customers to mint, redeem, and manage holdings via a web interface and APIs. The rollout, announced on July 23, coincides with a multichain expansion designed to extend RLUSD’s utility across payments, trading, and decentralized finance (DeFi).

Ripple Introduces Ripple Mint for Institutional Access

The new platform, called Ripple Mint, provides institutional clients with tools to create and redeem RLUSD directly, as well as manage balances programmatically through APIs. The offering targets enterprises, exchanges, payment providers, and market makers seeking streamlined on- and off-ramps between bank accounts and on-chain stablecoin liquidity.

By centralizing issuance and redemption workflows, Ripple Mint is positioned to support treasury operations that require predictable settlement, automated reconciliation, and reliable liquidity provisioning.

RLUSD Expands Across Multiple Networks

Alongside the platform launch, Ripple said RLUSD is expanding across multiple blockchains. The multichain approach is aimed at broadening distribution and improving interoperability for core use cases, including merchant and cross-border payments, spot and derivatives trading, and DeFi integrations such as lending, liquidity provision, and on-chain market making.

Why It Matters

  • Institutional operations: Direct mint and redeem functions can reduce friction and improve settlement certainty for enterprises that manage stablecoin liquidity at scale.
  • Market liquidity: Wider network coverage can deepen RLUSD’s presence across venues, supporting tighter spreads and smoother transfers between ecosystems.
  • Developer access: API-based issuance and management enable programmatic integrations across payments, trading platforms, and DeFi protocols.

Background on RLUSD

RLUSD is Ripple’s U.S. dollar–pegged stablecoin, designed for enterprise-grade payments and on-chain settlement. Stablecoins like RLUSD aim to combine the price stability of fiat currency with the speed and transparency of public blockchain infrastructure, making them common instruments for payments, remittances, trading collateral, and liquidity management.
