DCENT Urges App Wallet Users to Move Crypto Assets
DCENT, a South Korean cybersecurity company behind the DCENT App Wallet, issued a critical security notice on Wednesday urging users to transfer their cryptocurrency assets as soon as possible.
Users Told to Transfer Assets
In the notice, DCENT advised App Wallet users to move their assets to a secure hardware wallet or another trusted wallet address.
“Transfer assets as soon as possible to a secure hardware wallet or another trusted wallet address,” the company said.
Security Alert Affects App Wallet Users
The warning applies to DCENT’s software-based App Wallet. Unlike hardware wallets, which store private keys on a dedicated physical device, app wallets manage assets through software installed on a mobile device or computer.
DCENT’s recommendation indicates that affected users should avoid leaving assets in the App Wallet while the security issue is being addressed. Users should verify destination wallet addresses carefully before initiating any transfer and keep their recovery credentials private.
Hardware Wallets and Self-Custody
Hardware wallets are physical devices designed to keep private keys isolated from internet-connected systems. A transfer to another trusted wallet may also provide an alternative for users who do not have access to a hardware wallet.
DCENT users should rely on the company’s official communications for further updates and follow any additional instructions related to the security notice.
