Bitcoin Starts New Quarter Trapped in the $82K–$85K Range

Bitcoin Retreats After Brief Move Above $85,000

Bitcoin briefly climbed above $85,000 on Wednesday after weaker-than-expected U.S. inflation data reduced expectations for further Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes. The rally, however, failed to hold, and spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds did not provide enough support to sustain the advance.

Inflation Data Supports Initial Rally

The softer inflation reading prompted a reassessment of the outlook for U.S. monetary policy. Lower expectations for additional rate increases can support risk-sensitive assets such as cryptocurrencies by easing pressure from higher borrowing costs.

Bitcoin Fails to Hold Gains

Despite the initial move higher, Bitcoin prices retreated after briefly surpassing the $85,000 level. Demand from spot Bitcoin ETFs was not strong enough to reinforce the rally, leaving the market unable to maintain its post-data gains.
