Binance Moves Crypto From Funding Accounts Ahead of Stocks Rebrand

Binance to Move Non-Stock Crypto Assets From Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts

Binance is beginning a phased migration of non-stock cryptocurrency assets from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts, with the process scheduled to start on September 29 and continue through January 2027.

Phased Account Migration

The exchange said the transfer will take place in stages. The migration applies to cryptocurrency assets that are not associated with stock-related products, moving them from users’ Funding Accounts into their Spot Accounts.

Binance has not indicated that the migration will change users’ asset balances or ownership. However, users may see their eligible crypto holdings displayed in a different account section as the rollout progresses.

Funding Accounts to Become Stocks Accounts

Following the migration, Binance plans to rename Funding Accounts as Stocks Accounts. The renamed accounts will primarily support the settlement of stocks and stock options rather than general cryptocurrency holdings.

Spot Accounts are commonly used on cryptocurrency exchanges to hold assets available for spot trading, while specialized account types may support settlement or other transaction functions.

Timeline Extends Into 2027

Binance expects the account changes to continue in phases through January 2027. Users should monitor official exchange notifications for details about when their accounts and assets will be affected.
