Solana DEXs Process 208 Million Weekly Spot Trades, Surpassing NYSE Figure
Decentralized exchanges on the Solana blockchain processed approximately 208 million spot trades in the week ending Sept. 13, exceeding the roughly 190 million transactions recorded by the New York Stock Exchange during the same period.
Onchain Trading Activity Reaches New Milestone
The comparison highlights the rapid growth of trading activity on Solana-based decentralized exchanges, where users can trade digital assets directly through blockchain protocols without relying on a traditional centralized intermediary.
Solana’s weekly total represents individual spot trades conducted across its decentralized exchange ecosystem. The figure marks the first time that reported weekly trading activity on Solana DEXs has surpassed the NYSE’s transaction count.
Transaction Volume Does Not Equal Economic Value
Despite the higher number of transactions, the milestone does not mean Solana’s markets are larger than Wall Street in terms of capital, market value or institutional importance.
Transaction counts measure the number of trades, while the economic value of those trades depends on factors including trade size, asset prices, liquidity and the types of participants involved. Traditional stock exchanges also operate under different market structures and reporting conventions than blockchain-based trading protocols.
Solana’s Expanding Trading Ecosystem
The data nevertheless underscores the scale that onchain markets can reach. Solana’s high transaction capacity and relatively low costs have supported the growth of decentralized trading venues, particularly for digital assets and newly issued tokens.
The development also reflects the broader expansion of blockchain-based financial infrastructure, as decentralized exchanges continue to attract users and trading activity alongside established financial markets.
