Ripple Backs Zilo and Licuido to Expand XRPL Capital Markets

Ripple announced on Aug. 3 that it has invested in Zilo and Licuido, moves the company says will expand the XRP Ledger’s institutional capital markets infrastructure and add tooling for tokenized assets.

Strategic Investments Target Institutional Tokenization

According to Ripple, the strategic stakes in Zilo and Licuido are intended to bolster services on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) for institutional participants. The integrations are aimed at enhancing the issuance, trading, and lifecycle management of tokenized assets in a regulated environment.

What the Integrations Add

Ripple said the deals will extend XRPL’s stack with capabilities designed for capital markets workflows, including:

  • Regulated fund administration
  • Asset issuance and lifecycle management
  • Trading and execution support
  • Settlement and post-trade processes
  • Collateral and treasury tools for tokenized assets

Background: XRPL and Tokenized Assets

The XRP Ledger is an open, public blockchain known for its built-in decentralized exchange and features for issuing and managing tokens. Tokenization refers to representing traditional assets—such as funds, securities, and real-world assets—as blockchain-based tokens, enabling programmability, faster settlement, and potentially broader market access.

Why It Matters

Expanding regulated infrastructure around tokenized assets is a priority for institutions evaluating blockchain-based capital markets. Ripple’s investments in Zilo and Licuido are positioned to reduce operational friction for issuers and service providers building on XRPL, while aligning tooling with compliance and market-structure requirements.
